A motorcyclist claims he was rear ended by a drunk driver while stopped at an intersection in Ft. Russell Township.

Cody E. Heflin filed a lawsuit against Nicole A. Parker May 31 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Heflin says he was riding a Suzuki motorcycle south on St. James Drive in June 2011 and stopped at the intersection of Illinois Route 140. According to the complaint, Parker was also driving south on St. James Drive but says she did not see Heflin's motorcycle. Heflin claims he was hit from behind by Parker, thrown into her windshield and onto the ground. Heflin accuses Parker of being intoxicated at the time of the crash.

Heflin accuses Parker of negligence and asks for more than $15,000 in damages for medical expenses, loss of income and court fees.

Attorney Michael R. Glenn of Nokomis represents him. They request a jury trial.
