Parents of a recently deceased man have filed suit against the strip bar where they claim their son was shot by an employee.
Monique and Walter Taylor Sr. claim their son, Walter Taylor Jr., was visiting Garrett’s Pink Slip Exotic Bar in Brooklyn on Nov. 25 when he was struck by a bullet Garret’s employee, Maurice Shelton, fired.
As a result of the incident, Walter Taylor Jr. died and his family have lost his earnings; incurred funeral costs; and experienced grief, sorrow and mental suffering, according to the complaint filed March 28 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
The bar negliglently failed to protect Walter Taylor Jr. from its employee, hired an employee that behaved in a physically dangerous manner, retained and trained Shelton and supervised him, the suit states.
In their complaint, the Taylors seek a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.
They will be represented by Maurice B. Graham and Thomas K. Neill of Gray, Ritter and Graham in St. Louis.
