Rural King Supply sued over patron's parking lot pothole fall

A man has filed suit against the store where he claims he was shopping when he rolled his ankle while walking through the parking lot.

Stephen Price claims he stepped in a pothole and rolled his ankle while walking through the parking lot of defendant Rural King Supply on April 22, 2011.

Because of the incident, Price suffered pain and disability, incurred medical costs and lost wages, according to the complaint filed March 21 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Rural King Supply negligently failed to keep the parking lot in a safe condition, allowed pot holes to develop in its parking lot and failed to warn of the dangerous condition of its parking lot, among other negligent acts, the suit states.

In addition to Rural King Supply, Price names Meleer as a defendant. Meleer owned the premises at 9529 Collinsville Road in Collinsville where the incident occurred, the complaint says.

Price is seeking a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs.

He will be represented by Lanny Darr of Schrempf, Kelly, Napp and Darr in Alton.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 13-L-464.
