Woman sues after Cahokia traffic accident

A woman claims she was tossed violently within the confines of her vehicle after a driver struck her stopped car.

Debra J. Custer filed a lawsuit Feb. 7 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Bradley M. Wilson and SE Transport.

In her complaint, Custer alleges she had stopped in the southbound lanes of Water Street near its intersection with Old Water Street in Cahokia on July 7 when Wilson, who was driving for SE Transport, struck her vehicle.

Because of the collision, Custer suffered pain, incurred medical costs, lost wages and endured an impaired earning capacity, according to the complaint.

Custer blames Wilson for causing her injuries, saying he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, drove too fast, drove without adequate brakes, failed to properly apply his brakes, failed to keep his vehicle under proper control, failed to stop or swerve to avoid a collision and followed Custer’s vehicle too closely.

In her two-count complaint, Custer seeks a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs.
Chris Kolker of Kolker Law Offices in Belleville will be representing her.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 13-L-69.
