Pair file suit over O'Fallon accident

Two people have filed suit against the driver who they claim ran a stop light and struck their vehicle.

Chastity A. Alexander and Jarell R. Daniels claim Alexander was driving north on Greenmount Road at its intersection with Highway 50 in O’Fallon on Nov. 8 at about 10:15 p.m. when defendant Chelsea E. Nagel, who was driving west on Highway 50, disregarded a stop light and caused a collision.

Because of the accident, Alexander sustained neck and back injuries while Daniels suffered neck, back and rib injuries, according to the complaint filed Feb. 5 in St. Clair County Circuit Court. They both also became sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled; incurred medical costs; suffered disability; experienced pain and suffering; and lost wages and their earning capacities, the suit states.

Alexander claims she also incurred property damages, the complaint says.
Nagel negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to properly apply her brakes, failed to obey a traffic signal, drove too fast and drove without adequate brakes, the complaint says.

In their complaint, the plaintiffs are seeking a judgment of more than $107,000, plus costs.

They will be represented by John H. Hustava of Collinsville.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 13-L-66.
