A woman has filed suit against Dollar Tree after she claims she fell on an icy sidewalk outside its store.
Margaret Wickman claims she went to the Dollar Tree at 5831 Belleville Crossing in Belleville on Jan. 2, 2011, when she slipped and fell on a cracked, icy sidewalk.
Because of her fall, Wickman became seriously and severely injured, incurred medical costs and suffered great pain and mental anguish, according to the complaint filed Dec. 31 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
Dollar Tree negligently failed to remove ice that had accumulated on its walkway, failed to repair a deformity in the walkway, failed to warn Wickman of the dangerous condition of the sidewalk and failed to inspect the sidewalk, the suit states.
In her two-count complaint, Wickman is seeking a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs.
