A Beckemeyer woman is being sued after she allegedly crashed into another car while changing lanes in Caseyville.

Debra McDaniel filed a lawsuit Nov. 8 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Melissa Peek.

According to the complaint, McDaniel was in the passenger seat of a car driving north on Highway 157 in October 2010. McDaniel says the car she was riding in was in the left lane and nearing the intersection of California Drive.

McDaniel alleges Peek, driving north in the right lane of Highway 157, changed lanes without looking and crashed into the passenger side of the car in which McDaniel was riding. McDaniel says her back was hurt in the crash.

McDaniel accuses Peek of negligence and asks for more than $50,000 in damages for medical bills and costs of the lawsuit. McDaniel is representing herself.
