Geisler Roofing employee seeks under-insured damages

An employee of a Belleville roofing company is asking to be reimbursed for medical bills after he was allegedly hit by an under-insured driver in East St. Louis.

Eric Walters filed a lawsuit Oct. 11 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against CNA/Valley Forge Insurance Company.

Walters says he was insured under a policy issued by CNA/Valley Forge Insurance as an employee of Geisler Roofing Company Inc. The policy allegedly provided under-insured motorist coverage. In October 2010, while on the job and driving east on Missouri Avenue, Walters claims Harold P. Shain tried to turn left in front of him at the intersection of North 15th Street. Walters says he could not avoid crashing into Shain's car.

Walters accuses Shain, who was allegedly determined to be an under-insured driver, of being negligent in causing the crash. Walters says he is entitled to recover damages from CNA/Valley Forge Insurance and seeks a judgement of more than $50,000 for medical expenses, loss of income and cost of the lawsuit.

Attorney Nathan A. Steimel of St. Charles, Mo. represents Walters.
