An Illinois woman claims she incurred medical costs after a driver struck her vehicle.

Sonji R. Palmer filed a lawsuit Oct. 5 in Madison County Circuit Court against Fathiyyah A. H. Salahuddin.

In her complaint, Palmer claims she rode in a vehicle traveling east on Illinois Route 161 near its intersection with Old Lincoln Trail in Belleville on Feb. 6, 2007, when Salahuddin, who was driving west on the same road, attempted to make a left-hand turn at a traffic light and struck Palmer's vehicle

Because of the collision, Palmer incurred medical costs, lost wages and lost her normal life, the suit states.

Salahuddin negligently failed to yield, failed to turn left when there was a green light rather than a green arrow, drove too fast and failed to keep a proper lookout.

Jon E. Rosenstengel of Bonifield and Rosenstengel in Belleville will be representing her.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 12-L-1605.
