Pedestrian at Belleville gas station claims car struck him in lot

Rana

A man claims he experienced pain and suffering after a driver struck him in a gas station parking lot.

Joseph W. Hudson Jr. filed a lawsuit Sept. 17 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Christina Hursey.

In his complaint, Hudson alleges he was a pedestrian at a gas station at 7406 West Main in the city of Belleville on Jan. 27 when Hursey struck him with the vehicle she was operating at the gas station.

In addition to his pain and suffering, Hudson suffered emotional distress, disability and disfigurement and lost his normal life, according to the complaint. He also incurred medical costs and lost earnings and his earning capacity, the suit states.

Hudson blames Hursey for causing the collision, saying she negligently drove without adequate brakes, failed to sound the horn to warn pedestrians of an impending collision, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to stop to avoid a collision and failed to keep proper control of the vehicle.

In his complaint, Hudson seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

Tarun B. Rana of the Law Offices of Tarun B. Rana in St. Louis will be representing him.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 12-L-485.
