A Belleville Township High School West student says one of her teachers enticed her into a sexual relationship.

Jane Doe filed a lawsuit Sept. 6 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Belleville Township High School District 201.

According to the complaint, Doe was a 17-year-old student at the high school during the 2010-2011 school year. She says her math teacher at the time was Ryan D. Endsley. Doe alleges Endsley sent her an email expressing his tendency to engage in inappropriate sexual relationships with his students. Soon after, Doe claims, she and Endsley began meeting both during and after school hours on school property where they allegedly had sexual contact. Doe also alleges the sexual relationship extended into the 2011-2012 school year.

Doe accuses the school district of negligence for failing to monitor its teacher's communications with his students and for allowing him to be in a position of trust, authority and supervision. She seeks more than $50,000 in damages for medical bills and court costs.

Attorney Jon E. Rosenstengel of Belleville represents the student. They ask for a jury trial.
