An Illinois law enforcement officer is suing the driver of a car that he claims backed into him during a traffic stop.
Jonathon Davis filed a lawsuit Sept. 17 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Marc Alfred Taake.
According to the complaint, Davis pulled over Taake on a traffic stop in a gravel parking lot in Tamms in September 2010. Davis says he parked his 2009 Crown Victoria behind Taake's Ford Ranger and was getting out of his car when Taake allegedly put his truck into reverse and drove his truck into the officer's car. Davis claims he was hurt in the collision.
Davis accuses Taake of negligence and asks for more than $50,000 in damages for medical bills, loss of income and costs of the lawsuit.
He is represented by attorney Samantha S. Unsell of Belleville.
