Towing owner requests relief from payments

Stobbs

Hahne's Towing owner Michael Hahne on Sept. 21 requested relief from an order by Madison County Associate Judge Stephen Stobbs that requires him to pay $1,000 to the attorney of a former employee.

Hahne's Towing was sued in 2007 by Carnell Williams, a former tow truck driver who claimed the company failed to pay him minimum wage and failed to pay overtime.

Williams also sued Michael and Katherine Hahne individually saying they slandered him for giving potential employers a bad reference.

Hahne requested reconsideration of a Nov. 30 order, requiring him to produce documents and pay $1,000 monthly to attorney Lee Barron.

Hahne has been unable to timely make payments due to economic conditions, he claims, and he requests the order for payments be vacated.

Andrew Miofsky of Granite City represents the defense.

Lee Barron represents the plaintiff.
