A Shiloh husband and wife say they were hurt after being rear-ended in a multi-car crash in Marion County.
Melinda K. and Brian M. Phelps filed a lawsuit Aug. 16 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Kathryn E. Stephens and Jamil L. Lipson.
Brian Phelps says he was riding in a car driven by his wife, Melinda, in August 2010 and heading east on East McCord Street in Centralia. As they stopped for traffic, the couple says they were hit from behind by a car driven by Lipson. The Phelps claim Lipson's car was forced into the back of theirs by Stephens, who allegedly rear-ended Lipson.
The Phelps accuses Stephens and Lipson of negligence and seek more than $100,000 in damages for medical expenses, loss of income and costs of the lawsuit.
They are represented by attorney Christopher B. Daniels of Salem.
