Nelson

A Mascoutah woman says she was hurt when a Home Depot rug display fell on her foot.

Grace M. Motes filed a lawsuit Aug. 15 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Home Depot U.S.A. Inc.

Motes says she was shopping for rugs at the Belleville Crossing Home Depot in December 2010. The rugs were allegedly displayed on a metal cart when the cart unexpectedly collapsed on Motes' foot. She claims her foot, toe and ankle were hurt in the incident.

Motes accuses Home Depot of negligence for allegedly using an unstable display. She asks for more than $50,000 in damages for medical bills and court costs.

She is represented by attorney Robert C. Nelson of Belleville.
