Highway workers seek $100K after May accident on I-64

Beatty

Two highway workers say they were hit by a car while installing reflectors on Interstate 64 in St. Clair County.

Adam Evans and Kory Links filed a lawsuit against Michael J. Jeter July 11 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Evans and Links say they were working for Briteway Striping Services in May and had the job of attaching reflective prisms to the roadway. They claim they had a marked sign truck parked on the north shoulder of the eastbound lanes of Interstate 64, near mile post 13. That morning Jeter allegedly drove his Honda Accord at a high rate of speed into the construction zone and hit several cars, including the sign truck on which Evans and Link were working. Both men say they were seriously hurt in the crash.

Evans and Links accuse Jeter of negligence and ask for more than $100,000 in damages for the cost of medical care, loss of income and court fees.

They are represented by attorney William S. Beatty of Glen Carbon.
