Unions top lists of big campaign money in Illinois

The largest Illinois campaign contributors and contributions, as well as the richest campaign committees, are labor union-related.

According to statistics on the site ilreference.com, healthcare and teachers' unions top the lists, suggesting those groups will wield considerable influence in the fall elections.

The largest campaign contributors by name and total donated year to date are:

- SEIU Healthcare/Illinois: $1,018,962;

- AFT Solidarity Fund, dues: $646,946;

- International Union of Operating Engineers, Countryside Local No. 150: $636,397;

- LIUNA- Illinois Laborers' Legislative Committee: $585,703;

- IFT- West Suburban Teachers Union, Local No. 571: $549,902;

- SEIU IL Council, dues: $546,192;

- Illinois Education Association: $513,400;

- Chicago Teachers Union, IFT Local 1, dues: $437,540;

- Ameren: $358,666; and

- Citizens for John Cullerton: $350,000

The largest single campaign contributions year to date are:

- SEIU Healthcare/Illinois (to SEIU Healthcare Illinois Indiana PAC): $525,567;

- Citizens for John Cullerton (to Senate Democratic Victory Fund): $350,000;

- SEIU IL Council, dues (to SEIU Illinois Council PAC): $250,000;

- AFT Solidarity Fund, dues (to Illinois Federation of Teachers COPE): $173,556; $166,630; $153,380 and $153,380

- Illinois Pipe Trades, member dues deductions (to Illinois Pipe Trades PEF): $130,006; and

- Sean Morrison, candidate for Cook County Board of Review (to Voters for Sean M. Morrison): $125,000
