Belleville bike rider's injuries subject of suit

Cervantes

A woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims struck her daughter as she was riding her bike down the street.

Tracey Lewis claims her minor daughter, Traseana Parks, was riding her bike west on West Main Street near its intersection with North 29th Street in Belleville on June 14, 2010, when defendant Sondra Darnstaedt, who was driving in the same direction, struck Parks.

Because of the collision, Parks suffered severe injuries to her head, back, neck and both lower extremities and will experience a diminished working capacity in the future, according to the complaint.

Darnstaedt negligently drove too fast, failed to sound a warning, failed to keep a careful lookout and collided with the back of Parks's bike, the suit states.

In her two-count complaint, Lewis is seeking a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs and pre-judgment interest.

Leonard P. Cervantes and Aaron M. Vogel of Cervantes and Associates in St. Louis will be representing her.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 12-L-320.
