A man claims he now has an impaired ability to work after falling while on the uneven grounds of an RV park.
Randy Hughes filed a lawsuit June 18 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Casino Queen.
In his complaint, Hughes claims he was visiting the East St. Louis RV park on June 24, 2011, when he fell because of an uneven grade to the ground.
Because of his fall, Hughes sustained injuries to his right leg and ankle, including a medial space widening of the ankle, and has also endured a shocked and deranged nervous system, according to the complaint. Due to his impaired bodily abilities, Hughes's capacity to work has been diminished, and he has incurred medical costs of $20,715.96, the suit states.
Hughes blames Casino Queen for causing his injuries, saying the RV park negligently failed to keep it premises safe, failed to even the ground of the park, did not know of the condition at the park, failed to warn of the unsafe conditions and failed to block off the area so patrons would not fall.
In his complaint, Hughes seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
