The mother of an Alton teen who allegedly had a sexual relationship with her music teacher filed a fourth amended complaint Tuesday in Madison County Chief Circuit Judge Ann Callis' courtroom.

Plaintiff Jane Doe filed the complaint against Matthew Lang, 38, and the O'Fallon School District. Lang was a music teacher and band director in relation to the plaintiff.

Plaintiff Jane Doe sued the O'Fallon teachers union and O'Fallon School District #203, claiming they withheld information about former music teacher Lang's alleged history of inappropriate relationships with his students when Alton school officials inquired about him during an employment search.

Following the inquiries, Lang was hired by Alton Community Unit School District #11 where he had the alleged sexual relationship with Jane Doe's teenage daughter Mary Doe.

Lang was later arrested and pled guilty to criminal charges in connection with the relationship.

From February to August 2009, Lang allegedly committed sexual acts upon Mary Doe.

The plaintiff claims she suffered physical and mental injury, loss of life enjoyment and humiliation causing her to undergo medical and psychological care and incurring medical expenses for the treatment. The suit claims the injuries will be permanent.

Mary Doe prays for compensatory damages in excess of $50,000. Jane Doe also sought damages in excess of $50,000.

The Alton school district and its officials were dismissed from the suit. The terms of the settlement were not included in the notice of hearing.

The teachers' union had previously attempted to have the suit dismissed. The O'Fallon school district tried unsuccessfully to transfer the suit to St. Clair County. Judge Callis denied that move and the appellate court declined to hear the matter.

Thomas Falb represents Doe.

James Craney represents the O'Fallon district.

Lang does not have representation listed in the 2009 civil suit.

The case is Madison case number 09-L-886.
