Pizza Hut blamed for woman's slip on wet floor

Scoggins

A woman claims she sustained serious personal injuries after she slipped on a wet floor at Pizza Hut.

Anna M. McReaken filed a lawsuit Nov. 1 in Madison County Circuit Court against NPC International doing business as Pizza Hut.

In her complaint, McReaken alleges she visited the Pizza Hut located at 605 N. Bluff Road in Collinsville on Nov. 15, 2009, when she fell on a slippery floor.

Because of her fall, McReaken was unable to perform her typical duties and lost wages, according to the complaint. In addition, she suffered a great deal of pain and anguish and incurred medical costs, the suit states.

She blames Pizza Hut for causing her injuries, saying it negligently allowed the slippery floor to exist, failed to warn of the slippery floor, created the slippery floor, failed to inspect its premises for a dangerous condition and used a floor covering that was slippery and dangerous.

In her complaint, McReaken seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

Mark C. Scoggins and Anthony P. Gilbreth of Crowder and Scoggins in Columbia will be representing her.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 11-L-1129.
