After tripping on the lip of a handicapped ramp, a woman claims she suffered permanent disability and disfigurement.
Emily Jane Buchele filed a lawsuit Oct. 7 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against the City of Lebanon.
In her complaint, Buchele alleges she was walking on the northeast corner of St. Louis and Pearl Streets in Lebanon on Aug. 20 when she tripped on the ramp.
In addition to her disability and disfigurement, Buchele suffered pain and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint.
Buchele blames the city for causing her injuries, saying it negligently failed to warn of the lip between the sidewalk and the ramp, failed to remove the lip and constructed the ramp in such a way that there was a lip.
Buchele seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
