Edwardsville accident on North Poag is subject of suit

A California man is asking for more than $100,000 from the driver he says caused a crash on an Edwardsville road.

Kenneth B. Loesch filed a lawsuit against Travis W. Riggs May 24 in Madison County Circuit Court.

The alleged crash happened in August 2009. Loesch says he was driving a Pontiac Torrent north on Poag Road near the intersection of Highway 111 in Edwardsville. He says Riggs, driving south toward Loesch, allegedly crossed the center line and crashed into the Pontiac.

Loesch contends Riggs was negligent for allegedly driving too fast, failing to operate his vehicle in a safe manner and for failing to take the necessary action to avoid a collision. Loesch says Riggs actions were willful and wanton.

Loesch says he was received serious injuries as a result of the collision. He is asking for more than $100,000 in damages to compensate for medical expenses, pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life and lost wages.

Attorneys Sara M. Salger and Randy L. Gori of Edwardsville are representing Loesch.
