Edwardsville accident is subject of suit

A Madison County woman claims two drivers are to blame for injuries she allegedly suffered in a crash on an Edwardsville road.

Ju Lisa D. Newtown filed a lawsuit April 8 in Madison County Circuit Court against Carissa R. Willman and Nicole S. Hill.

Newton says she was a passenger in a Mercury Cougar being driven by Hill in June 2010. Newton says Hill was driving west on Governor's Parkway preparing to turn north onto Troy Road when the Cougar allegedly collided with a Ford F-150 driven by Willman.

Newton accuses both Hill and Willman of negligence for failing to pay attention and failing to take the necessary actions to avoid the collision at the intersection.

As a result of the crash, Newton says she received serious injuries to her head, face, neck and back. She says she also suffered from shock, dizziness, nausea, sleeplessness and mental anguish. Newton says the quality of her life has been permanently diminished.

Newton is asking both drivers to each pay more than $50,000 in damages along with court costs.

Attorney Philip J. Lading of Edwardsville is representing Newton. They demand a jury trial.
