A St. Clair County doctor is accused of malpractice after his patient was allegedly hurt during back surgery.
Shawn Beckett filed a lawsuit March 18 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Dr. William Sprich and Neurological Surgery of Belleville Ltd.
According to the complaint, Beckett underwent back surgery at Memorial Hospital in March 2009. The operation was performed by Dr. Sprich. Beckett claims Dr. Sprich failed to fix his back problems and didn't use adequate biological protein catalyst during the procedure.
Beckett accuses Dr. Sprich and Neurological Surgery of Belleville of negligence and malpractice. He asks for more than $100,000 in damages for medical expenses, lost income and court costs.
