Driver claims injuries in McDonald's parking lot

A woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims struck her vehicle as she was driving in a McDonald's parking lot in Shiloh.

Amanda Bassett claims she was driving her 2009 Ford Mustang in the parking lot at the intersection of Frank Scott Parkway and Green Mount Road on Aug. 29, 2009, when defendant Candice Taylor, who was driving a 1999 Ford Contour in the same parking lot, struck her.

Because of the accident, Bassett suffered disability and disfigurement, experienced pain and suffering and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint filed Jan. 20 in St. Clair County Circuit Court. In addition, she lost income, the suit states.

Taylor negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to yield the right-of-way, drove too fast and failed to use ordinary care to avoid a collision, the complaint says.

In her complaint, Bassett is seeking actual damages of more than $50,000, plus costs.

Kevin Boyne of Belleville will be representing her.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 11-L-32.
