Rear-end accident in Swansea is subject of suit

A St. Clair County woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims rear-ended her vehicle.

Amy Pfingsten claims she was driving a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica on South Green Mount Road near South Route 177 on Oct. 8 when defendant Ian Glaenzer, who was driving in the same direction, struck the back of her vehicle. At the time of the collision, Ian Glaenzer was driving a vehicle belonging to Richard Glaenzer.

Because of the collision, Pfingsten suffered serious painful and permanent injuries, including severe damage to her back, and has sustained severe and permanent pain, mental anguish and disfigurement, according to the complaint filed Jan. 14 in St. Clair County Circuit Court. In addition, she incurred medical costs, was prevented from attending to her normal duties and lost wages, the suit states.

Ian Glaenzer negligently failed to keep the vehicle under proper control and failed to keep a proper lookout, the complaint says.

In addition to Ian Glaenzer, Pfingsten names Richard Glaenzer as a defendant, saying he negligently entrusted his vehicle to a driver who posed a risk of harm to others.

In her two-count complaint, Pfingsten is seeking a judgment of more than $150,000, plus costs.

Thomas Q. Keefe Jr. of Belleville will be representing her.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 11-L-24.
