GJN expands bankruptcy practice with veteran attorneys

ST. LOUIS - Attorneys David A. Lander and Eric C. Peterson have joined Gallop, Johnson & Neuman, L.C. as partners.

Lander and Peterson will lead the firm's business bankruptcy practice group to address client needs for legal expertise in matters of distressed businesses, business reorganization, bankruptcy and related litigation.

In addition, Lander and Peterson will work with Gallop attorneys in cross-practice areas that include alternative dispute resolution, banking, creditor's rights, hotels and hospitality, mergers and acquisitions, real estate and others.

Lander has represented secured creditors, mortgagees, unsecured creditors, debtors and unsecured creditors' committees in out-of-court workouts, Chapter 11 reorganizations and enforcement of creditors' rights.

His experience also includes representing purchasers of businesses in financial distress. He has authored many articles and book chapters focusing on agribusiness finance, business loan workouts and bankruptcy, among other legal topics. He has been listed among The Best Lawyers in America for more than 15 years.

In addition, Lander is a member of the National Bankruptcy Conference, the American College of Bankruptcy, the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers and served on the National Study Committee on the revision of Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code.

He is a graduate of The University of Chicago Law School.

Peterson has represented banks, closely held companies, high net worth individuals, executives, entrepreneurs, firms seeking to reorganize under Chapter 11, official creditor and bondholder committees and bankruptcy trustees.

His background includes service at major law firms including Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll LLP and Los Angeles-based Rutter Hobbs & Davidoff, Inc., where, annually from 2005 to 2010, he was named a Super Lawyers Rising Star by Los Angeles Magazine.

In addition, Peterson was featured on the cover of Los Angeles Lawyer magazine in connection with work relating to the personal protection of corporate officers and directors of companies in Chapter 11.

Prior to his legal career, Peterson worked in the White House Office of Political Affairs under the President George H.W. Bush administration and as a lead committee consultant in the California legislature. He also has served in offices of state and federal elected officials.

Peterson is the author of numerous articles dealing with bankruptcy, intellectual property, and antitrust matters, among other legal issues.

He is a graduate of Boston University School of Law.
