Madison County Circuit Judge William Mudge is set to hear a sealed motion filed by the defendant in a suit over the alleged revelation of a woman's STD test results by a romantic rival.
The hearing on the sealed motion filed by Quest Diagnostics is set for 9:30 a.m today.
Plaintiff Jane Doe is suing Quest Diagnostics Inc. and Maureen Sackmann, a former Quest employee, for damages in excess of $350,000.
Doe claims that Sackmann revealed her positive herpes test results to Doe's boyfriend with whom Sackmann was also romantically involved.
Doe claims Quest is liable for Sackmann's actions as her employer.
The defendants deny the claims.
Doe asked for a protective order last year in the case due to media coverage by The Madison County Record, The Alton Telegraph and several St. Louis-based television stations.
The plaintiff contended that public discovery in the case would reveal her identity and that of her family.
Former Madison County Circuit Judge Daniel Stack previously oversaw the suit.
He granted the request in September 2010.
Quest filed its motion under seal Dec. 29, 2010.
The docket entry noting the filing gives no information as to its topic.
Emily Johnson represents Jane Doe.
John Webster represents Sackmann.
Robert Bernstein and others represent Quest.
The case was assigned to Madison County Circuit Judge Barbara Crowder before it went to Stack.
The case became Mudge's after Stack retired last year.
