A man is seeking damages from a Belleville bar and a patron he claims was drunk and under age.

Derrick Heidorn filed a lawsuit Oct. 28 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Shenanigans Inc. and Tom M. Pehle.

Heidorn says he was a patron of Shenanigans on Sept. 24 around 2 a.m. when another patron, Pehle, displayed a knife and sliced him across the hand. Heidorn' s suit claims Pehle was under legal drinking age and was being served intoxicating liquor by Shenanigans in violation of the Dramshop Act.

Heidorn blames Shenanigans for being a frequent site of fights and failing to provide adequate security and lighting for patrons. He also says the establishment is negligent in allowing minors to consume alcohol on the premises.

Heidorn says he suffered severe hand injuries that required multiple surgeries to his hand and thumb. He claims significant medical bills and permanent disfigurement.

In his complaint, Heidorn seeks damages of more than $50,000 plus osts from Shenanigans and Pehle.

Shaun Falvey of Brown & Crouppen will be representing him.
