Belleville attorney files personal injury suit against driver

Belleville attorney Bernard Ysursa and his family are suing a driver who allegedly rear-ended their vehicle on Frank Scott Parkway in August.

Denise C. Ysursa filed the suit on behalf of herself and her three children against Karen G. Sprinkle on Oct. 25 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

The alleged crash happened Aug. 27 near the intersection of Pinewood Lane in Fairview Heights. Denise Ysursa says she was driving her husband's Chrysler Town & Country when a traffic back-up forced her to stop on the road. Ysursa says her three children were also in the minivan.

According to the complaint, Sprinkle was driving her vehicle directly behind Ysursa and failed to stop along with traffic. Sprinkle allegedly crashed into Ysursa's minivan from behind, pushing the Town & Country into the vehicle stopped in front of it.

Ysursa says she and her three children injured their backs, heads and necks in the crash and have been unable to function normally. They are asking to be paid more than $60,000 for medical expenses and other damages.

Bernard Ysursa Sr. is asking for at least $13,000 for repairs to his minivan. He is an attorney with Cook, Ysura, Bartholomew, Brauer & Shelvlin Ltd. in Belleville and is representing his family in this case.
