Injury suit filed over Missouri accident

Following a car crash in Missouri during which she sustained injuries to her neck, back, left arm, legs and body, a Madison County woman filed suit against the driver of the vehicle.

Nicole Cravens filed a lawsuit Oct. 20 in Madison County Circuit Court against Dominick Canterbury.

Cravens claims she rode in a 2000 Plymouth Neon Canterbury drove on Route 00 in St. Francois County, Mo., on Aug. 21, 2009, at about 8:30 p.m. when Canterbury failed to properly navigate a turn, causing the collision.

In addition to her injuries, Cravens became sick, sore, lame and disordered and suffered great pain and anguish, according to the complaint. She also incurred medical costs, suffered internal derangement and has been prevented from participating in many of her daily activities, the suit states.

Cravens blames Canterbury for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep the neon under proper control, failed to drive at a reasonable speed, failed to reduce his speed to avoid a collision and failed to keep a careful lookout.

In her complaint, Cravens seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

Richard G. Reed of Reed and Bruhn in Belleville will be representing her.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-1081.
