Neck injuries claimed in Hwy. 267 accident

A woman claims she sustained neck, back, little finger and right thigh injuries after a driver rear-ended the vehicle in which she rode as a passenger.

Veva Watts filed a lawsuit Oct. 12 in Madison County District Court against Roy Anderson.

Watts claims she rode in a vehicle stopped at a stop sign facing north at the intersection of Highway 267 and Highway 67 on Oct. 14, 2008, when Anderson failed to control his speed and rear-ended the vehicle.

In addition to her injuries, Watts incurred medical costs and has been prevented from attending to her usual duties and affairs because of the collision, the suit states.

Watts blames Anderson for causing the accident, saying he negligently drove in a reckless fashion, failed to exercise ordinary care, failed to stop to avoid a collision and drove too fast, the complaint says. In addition, he failed to keep a proper lookout, according to the complaint.

In her complaint, Watts seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

William E. Miller III of Alton will be representing her.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-1079.
