Rick Jones' suit against Wood River set for case management Wednesday

A breach of contract suit filed by former real estate king pin Rick Jones is set for case management Wednesday.

The suit, against the city of Wood River, has seen very little activity in recent months.

Jones, who is currently serving time in prison on a federal tax evasion conviction, argues Wood River did not live up to its end of a real estate bargain.

Wood River is fighting Jones' suit, claiming it was Jones and not the city that failed to hold up an end of the bargain.

The 2009 suit is one of two breach of contract suits filed by Jones last year.

The other, against a home buyer who Jones alleges did not go through with the home purchase in one of his developments, is set for a damages hearing this week as well.

The conference is set to begin at 9:30 a.m.

Madison County Circuit Judge David Hylla presides in the Wood River-Jones case.

Jones is represented in the Wood River suit by Robert Bassett.

The city is represented by David Nester.

The case is Madison case number 09-L-641.
