Motorcyclist accuses truck driver of causing rear-end crash

A Madison County man is suing for injuries allegedly suffered when a truck driver knocked him off a motorcycle.

Kevin Kehrer filed the complaint against truck driver Larry York and York's employer, Leonard's Express Inc., Sept. 10 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Kehrer says he was driving his motorcycle on Highway 70 on Aug. 8, 2009, when York drove a tractor trailer truck into him. Kehrer says the big rig hit the back of his motorcycle, knocking him off the bike. Kehrer claims he suffered severe head injuries in the crash.

Kehrer argues York is to blame for failing to watch for traffic in order to avoid a collision. He is asking York pay at least $50,000 for medical expenses, lost wages and pain.

The suit also accuses Leonard's Express Inc. for the negligence of its employee. Kehrer is seeking a minimum of $50,000 from the company.

Attorney Thomas G. Maag of the Maag Law Firm in Wood River is representing Kehrer.
