Route 157 accident causes injuries, suit claims

A Madison County man has filed suit against the driver who he claims struck his vehicle after failing to yield the right of way.

Gerry J. Dmochowski claims he was driving a 2007 Chevy Cobalt north on Illinois State Route 157 near its intersection with Center Grove Road on Nov. 15, 2009, at about 12:26 a.m. when defendant Grant P. Lamkey, who was driving a 2008 GMC Sierra south on the same road, collided with him.

Because of the collision, Dmochowski suffered injuries to his neck, chest, hips and knee and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint filed Aug. 9 in Madison County Circuit Court. In addition, he experienced pain, suffering and disability and lost his normal life, the suit states.

Lamkey negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to yield to oncoming traffic and drove too fast, the complaint says.

In his complaint, Dmochowski is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

Eric J. Carlson of Byron, Carlson, Petri and Kalb in Edwardsville will be representing him.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-826.
