Beneficiary claims insurance company failed to pay policy

A St. Clair County woman has filed suit against the life insurance agency that she claims refused to provide her with benefits after a death.

Ronda Morris claims Raymond Morris, who held a life insurance policy through Hartford Life Insurance Company, died on April 26, 2007.

Prior to his death, Raymond Morris had listed Ronda Morris as sole beneficiary for his insurance policy through Hartford, according to the complaint filed July 23 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

"That demand has been made upon Hartford to pay the benefits due to the beneficiary pursuant to the terms of the attached policy but Hartford has vexatiously and willfully refused to make payment," the suit states.

In her complaint, Ronda Morris is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus attorney's fees and costs.

Terry N. Brown of Brown and Associates in Belleville will be representing her.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-382.
