A woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims struck the vehicle in which she rode, allegedly causing her to sustain injuries to her abdomen, head and low back.
Samantha Simpson claims she was riding in a vehicle on Aug. 27 when defendant Arthur Heck attempted to back out of a parking lot located at 1330 Madison Ave. in Madison. Instead, he backed into the vehicle in which Simpson was riding, according to the complaint filed July 13 in Madison County Circuit Court.
In addition to her injuries, Simpson sustained hematuria, facial contusions and swelling and right thigh abrasions, the suit states. She also suffered great physical pain and incurred medical costs of $30,036.76, the complaint says.
She blames Heck for causing the collision, saying he negligently drove too fast, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to warn of his approach and failed to yield the right-of-way.
Simpson also names Arthur Heck's employer, Chuck Heck's Auto Repair, as a defendant because Heck was working for it at the time of the collision.
In her two-count complaint, Heck is seeking a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs.
Brock Cima of Brown and Crouppen in St. Louis will be representing her.
