Bank sues over unpaid promissory notes

First National Bank of Waterloo claims a St. Clair County woman owes it more than $60,000 after she defaulted on three separate promissory notes.

The bank filed suit June 22 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Karen M. Blomenkamp.

In its complaint, the bank claims Blomenkamp executed three promissory notes -- one for $25,000 on Jan. 8, 2008; another worth $38,000 on May 8, 2006; and a third for $29,550 on Feb. 22, 2006.

In March 2008, Blomenkamp failed to make payments on the notes and has continued to fail in her reimbursements since, according to the complaint.

At the filing of the suit, Blomenkamp owed $29,297.22 for her Jan. 8 note; $31,624.05 for her May 8 note; and $20,083.61 for her Feb. 22 note, the suit states.

In addition to the money it says Blomenkamp owes it, First National Bank seeks attorney's fees, costs and other relief the court deems just.

Deborah J. Volmert of Hanna and Volmert in Belleville will be representing it.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-309.
