A Belleville man has filed suit against the driver who he claims rear-ended him.
Augustus Stacker Jr. claims he was driving a 1996 Buick Park Avenue west on North Belt West Road in Belleville on May 18, 2009, at about 7:58 a.m. when Antonio E. Perry, who was driving a 2003 Suzuki Vitara west on the same road, struck the rear of his vehicle.
Because of the collision, Stacker was made sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled; incurred medical costs; suffered disability and lost his normal life; experienced pain and suffering; and was prevented from attending to his usual duties and affairs, according to the complaint filed April 8 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
Perry negligently failed to keep a proper lookout for other vehicles on the road, failed to keep his vehicle under control, drove too closely to Stacker's vehicle, failed to stop or swerve to avoid a collision and drove too fast, the suit states.
In his complaint, Stacker is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
Eric M. Rhein of Belleville will be representing him.
