Belleville accident is subject of suit

A Belleville woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims rear-ended her as she attempted to turn left.

Kattie Chapple claims she was stopped in the southbound lane of Hartman Lane and was yielding to oncoming traffic before attempting to make a left-hand turn onto Richland Prairie in Belleville on Jan. 22, 2009, when defendant Arthur H. Boller Jr. rear-ended her.

Because of the collision, Chapple sustained serious and permanent injuries to her back, neck, left leg, foot and ankle; experienced a substantially impaired ability to conduct her normal activities; incurred medical costs; and lost wages, according to the complaint filed March 26 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Boller negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep his vehicle under control, failed to stop or swerve to avoid a collision with Chapple, drove too fast and failed to apply his brakes in time to avoid a collision, the suit states.

In her complaint, Chapple is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

David H. Bone of Kassly, Bone, English and Hillebrand in Belleville will be representing her.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-143.
