Belleville accident is subject of suit

A woman has filed suit against the driver who she says struck her while attempting to make a left-hand turn.

Joyce Neuner claims she was driving south near the 5800 block of Belleville Crossing in St. Clair Township on Dec. 21 when defendant Mary Hall, who was driving north on Belleville Crossing, attempted to turn left into a parking lot at 5820 Belleville Crossing. However, Hall failed to yield to oncoming traffic and struck Neuner, according to the complaint filed Jan. 8 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Because of the accident, Neuner sustained severe and permanently disabling injuries, including crushing injuries to her arms and body; and suffered great pain and mental anguish, the suit states. In addition, she lost large sums of money because of her inability to pursue her normal occupation and incurred medical costs, the complaint says.

Neuner blames Hall for driving too fast, for failing to keep a proper lookout, for failing to keep her vehicle under control, for failing to reduce her speed to avoid a collision and for failing to yield the right-of-way to oncoming traffic.

Neuner is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

Bruce R. Cook of Cook, Ysursa, Bartholomew, Brauer and Shevlin in Belleville will be representing her.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-7.
