A woman has filed suit against the driver who she says struck her, allegedly causing her to lose wages of more than $25,000.
Valerie Williams claims she was driving south on Virginia at its intersection with St. Louis Avenue on Feb. 1, 2007, at about 3:55 p.m. when defendant James Blum struck her vehicle after failing to stop at a red light. At the time of the accident, Blum was working for co-defendant Odesco Industrial Services.
According to the complaint filed Jan. 7 in Madison County Circuit Court, Williams suffered severe physical pain and sustained permanent and progressive injuries because of the accident. In addition, her health, strength and endurance have been weakened; her earning capacity and ability to work have been diminished; she has sustained medical costs in excess of $23,000; and she lost wages of more than $25,920, the suit states.
Blum negligently changed lanes when it was not safe to do so, failed to yield the right-of-way and violated a red light, the complaint says.
In the two-count suit, Williams is seeking a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs.
