28 asbestos cases filed Dec. 14-18 in Madison County

A total of 28 new asbestos lawsuits were filed in Madison County Circuit Court during the week of Dec. 14 through Dec. 18.

The following complaints were filed:

--Theresa Mann Adams of Georgia claims her recently deceased father, Samuel Mann, developed mesothelioma after his work as a mechanic in the U.S. Army from 1959 until 1961, as a mechanic at Crown Cork and Seal from 1965 until the early 1970s, as a construction worker from the early 1970s until 1976 and as a welder, mechanic and shop foreman for Norfolk Southern Railroad from 1976 until 1973. Mann Adams will be represented by Randy L. Gori of Gori, Julian and Associates in Alton. W. Mark Lanier, Patrick N. Haines, W. Casey Harris and M. --Daniel G. Baldridge Jr. of Arkansas, a contractor at various locations from 1947 until 1979, claims lung cancer. Baldridge will be represented by Robert Phillips, Perry J. Browder and Rosalind M. --Joseph Bowden of Tennessee, a laborer and deck hand at various locations from 1967 until 1979, claims lung cancer. Bowden will be represented by Robert Phillips, Perry J. Browder and Rosalind M. --Patrick A. and Connie S. Brewer of Nebraska claim Patrick A. Brewer developed mesothelioma after his work as a laborer at Wilson's Meat Packing Plant in 1970, as a laborer at John Henshaw Construction in 1971, as a railroad car repairman for Transco from 1972 until 1973, as a machine operator in 1971 and as a mechanic operator for National Friction in 1973. --Rex A. Buchanon of Nebraska, a carpenter, laborer and machinist at various locations from 1952 until 1979, claims lung cancer. Buchanon will be represented by Robert Phillips, Perry J. --Althea Bussert of Arizona claims her recently deceased husband, James Bussert, developed mesothelioma after his work as a reliability engineer, teacher, instructor and clerk at various locations throughout Arizona and California from 1959 until 2009. Althea Bussert will be represented by Christopher R. Guinn and John P. Wagner of Simmons, Browder, Gianaris, Angelides and Barnerd in East Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-1367.

--Wayne E. Cose Jr. of California, a machinist and auditor at various locations from 1942 until 1979, claims lung cancer. Cose will be represented by Robert Phillips, Perry J. Browder and Rosalind M. --Kenneth A. Fitzpatrick Sr. of Wisconsin, a boilermaker at various locations from 1967 until 1979, claims lung cancer. Fitzpatrick will be represented by Robert Phillips, Perry J. --Donald and Sharon Floyd of Missouri claims Donald Floyd developed lung cancer after his work as a welder at North County Technical High School from 1969 until 1971, a welder at Schuckman Ornamental Iron from 1970 until 1974, a pressure welder at Combustion Engineering from 1974 until 1980, a fitter welder at Brook's Brothers Trailers in 1981, a welder at Custom Fabricating from 1981 until 1982, a welder at Unidynamics in 1982, a welder at St. Louis Fabricating in 1983, a welder at Metal Form in 1984, a welder at Engineered Air Systems in 1985, a welder and line attendant at A.O. Smith from 1985 until 2006 and a member of the UAW from 1970 until 2003. The Floyds will be represented by Randy L. Gori and Barry Julian of Gori, Julian and Associates in Edwardsville. --Ance Hatfield of Wisconsin, a boiler room fireman, boiler tender and maintenance worker at various locations from 1959 until 1979, claims lung cancer. --Cheryl Holt of Kentucky, a waitress, clerk and customer representative at various locations from 1993 until 2009, claims mesothelioma. Holt was also exposed to asbestos fibers through her grandfather, Franklin Short, who worked as a custodian from 1967 until 1984 at Healthy School System, according to the complaint. --Hans Jensen Jr. of Louisiana claims his recently deceased father, Hans Jensen Sr., developed mesothelioma after his work as a mechanic, laborer, welder, pipefitter, carpenter and painter at various locations from 1963 until 2009. Hans Jensen Jr. will be represented by Shane F. Hampton and Paul M. Dix of Simmons, Browder, Gianaris, Angelides and Barnerd in East Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-1351.

--Bobby Lee Jones of Indiana, a laborer, substitute teacher, house parent, division director and chief operating officer at various locations throughout the states of Illinois and Mississippi from 1970 until 2009, claims pleural mesothelioma. Jones was also exposed to asbestos fibers through his father, who worked from 1959 until 1979 as a laborer at Rockwell Spring and Axle and as a mechanic at Sinclair's Service Station, according to the complaint. --Robert Kennedy of Ohio, a home remodeler from 1952 until 1980, a fireman and locomotive engineer from the 1940s until 1979 and a member of the U.S. Marines from 1943 until 1945, claims mesothelioma. --Richard Libsack, Catherine Mattson and Yvonne Libsack claim their recently deceased father and husband, Ralph Libsack, developed mesothelioma after his work for the U.S. Marine Corp. from 1940 until 1953 and for the Bremerton Police Department. --Patricia Mellinger of Pennsylvania, a laborer, maintenance worker and janitor at various locations from 1969 until 1979, claims lung cancer. --Robert C. and Dorothy Gene Sherer of Alabama claim Robert C. Sherer developed mesothelioma after his work as a janitor for Liberty National from 1963 until 1965, as a sander and planer for Davis Cabinet Company and for Murphy Furniture from 1965 until 1966, as a truck driver for Walker County Wholesale from 1966 until 1967, as a machinist for American Cast Iron Pipe Co. from 1967 until 1981, in the maintenance shop at Drummond Company from 1981 until 1984, for Quadra-Dyne in 1983, as a machinist for Jasper Electric Motors from 1983 until 1991 and as a welder for Drummond Company from 1990 until 1996. Stotts of Missouri, a mechanic's assistant at Metcalf Auto Parts from 1957 until 1959, a polisher for Carthage Marble from 1959 until 1960, a crater for Leggett and Platt from 1960 until 1964, a punch press operator at Atlas Chemical from 1967 until 1971, a laborer for Snyder Brother's Construction from 1971 until 1980 and a utility serviceman for Joplin Water Company from 1980 until 2003, claims mesothelioma. Swearingen developed mesothelioma after his work as a laborer at a construction company from 1958 until 1959, as a machinist mate from 1961 until 1964, as a delivery man in 1965, as a carpenter for Willie's Construction from 1965 until 1966, as an installer for Leo Applicators from 1966 until 1970, as a commercial carpenter for McCullough Construction from 1970 until 1979, as an installer for Mid-States Construction from 1975 until 1977, as a salesman at Dutch Miller from 1977 until 1978, as a salesman for Willies Construction from 1978 until 1983, as a service man for Great Southern Contractors from 1981 until 1985, as the owner and operator for Bob's Home Repair from 1985 until 1990 and as a superintendant at Michael Walker and Associates from 1993 until now.
