A man claims he sustained injuries to his left knee after a driver struck his car at a Bethalto intersection.
David A. Biggs filed a lawsuit Dec. 1 in Madison County Circuit Court against Katie J. Plummer.
Biggs claims his vehicle was stopped at the intersection of Georgia Street and Ashbrook Street in Bethalto when Plummer, who was driving south on Georgia Street, turned onto South Ashbrook Street and struck Biggs' vehicle on Dec. 11, 2007, at about 11:58 p.m.
Because of the accident, Biggs sustained injuries to his left knee, was hindered and prevented from attending to his usual duties, incurred medical costs and lost large sums of money that would have accrued to him, according to the complaint.
Plummer negligently failed to reduce her speed to avoid an accident, failed to keep her vehicle under control, failed to keep a proper lookout and made an improper turn, the suit states.
Biggs is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
