Industrial Drive accident results in injuries, suit claims

A man has filed suit against the driver who he says struck him head on.

Dennis K. Rheinecker claims he was driving his 1998 Chevrolet 1500 south on South Main near its intersection with Industrial Drive in Dupo on No. 9, 2007, at about 5:49 p.m. when the incident occurred.

At the same time, Earl B. Taylor was driving a 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue north on South Main near the same intersection when he drove into Rheinecker's lane, causing a head-on collision.

Because of the collision, Rheinecker suffered serious, severe and permanent injuries, experienced mental pain and anguish and incurred medical costs. In addition, he lost money from his usual employment and experienced an impaired earning capacity, according to the complaint.

Taylor negligently failed to keep his vehicle under proper control, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to take evasive measures to avoid a collision, drove without safe brakes and drove on the left side of the road, the suit states.

Rheinecker is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

Thomas B. Cannady of Keehner, Cannady and Katz in Shiloh will be representing him.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-606.
