A woman has filed suit against a driver who she says struck her vehicle as she was attempting to drive through an intersection.

Jessica J. Koester claims she was driving west on Governors Parkway and driving through its intersection with Troy Road in Edwardsville on Nov. 6 when Justin Lutz, who was driving south on Troy Road, struck her.

Because of the collision, Koester experienced pain and suffering, disfigurement, disability, an increased risk of future harm and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint filed Sept. 1 in Madison County Circuit Court. In addition, she suffered emotional distress, the suit states.

Lutz negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to obey a traffic signal and failed to decrease his speed, the complaint says.

Koester is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

She is represented by James E. Gorman of Lucco, Brown, Threlkeld and Dawson of Edwardsville.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-912.
