Marion County asbestos claimant sues in St. Clair County
A Walnut Hill, Ill., man recently diagnosed with lung cancer and his wife filed an asbestos suit against 41 defendant corporations alleging the man's disease was wrongfully caused.
Represented by Randy Gori and Barry Julian of Gori, Julian & Associates, Harles and Betty Sisson claim Harless Sisson was diagnosed with cancer on March 9.
They filed suit Aug. 31 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
Walnut Hill is located in Marion County.
According to the Sissons, from 1951 to 1970 Harles Sisson was a quartermaster, electronic technician and construction technician in the U.S. Navy and from 1979 to 1980 was an electrician at Blackburn Electric Company.
He was also employed as an electrician helper in 1979 at DuPont Chemical Company.
The Sissons claims Harles Sisson's exposure to asbestos was completely foreseeable and should have been anticipated by the defendants.
He claims his illness caused him to experience great physical pain and mental anguish, medical expenses and lost wages.
His wife, Betty Sisson, also is seeking damages, alleging she has been deprived of Harles Sisson's companionship and society.
The Sissons are seeking a judgment of more than $100,000, economic damages in excess of $200,000, compensatory damages in excess of $100,000, punitive and exemplary damages in excess of $100,000, plus punitive damages in an amount sufficient enough to punish the defendants for their conduct and other relief the court deems just.
St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-463.
