Two individuals and a trucking company are being sued over allegations they failed to stop for traffic and caused injuries to two women.

On July 1, Katherine S. Hunt and Cori M. Naler filed a lawsuit in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Timothy S. Stafford, Avery Glasper and Danny Gilder, also known as DGI Trucking.

Hunt and Naler claim they were stopped in traffic facing north on Illinois Route 203 near its intersection with Jill Street in Granite City on Aug. 1, 2007.

At the same time Timothy Stafford, who was driving a Ford in the same direction, and Avery Glasper, who was driving a tractor trailer owned by Glider also in the same direction, failed to stop for traffic and collided with the vehicle in which Hunt and Naler were traveling, according to the complaint.

Because of the accident, Hunt sustained severe and permanently disabling injuries to her left hip, left side, right shoulder and neck, the suit states.

Naler alleges she sustained permanent injuries to her back, shoulder and neck.

Both women sustained great pain and mental anguish, lost large sums of money because of their inability to pursue their normal occupation, suffered permanent disability and disfigurement and incurred medical costs, the complaint says.

They blame Stafford and Glasper for failing to yield to other vehicles, for failing to keep a proper lookout, for failing to keep their vehicles under control, for driving too fast and for failing to reduce their speeds to avoid an accident.

Glider was liable for the accident because one of his employees was driving the tractor trailer, according to the complaint.

In the six-count suit, Hunt and Naler are seeking a judgment of more than $300,000, plus costs.
