15 new asbestos claims filed April 13-17

A total of 15 new asbestos suits were filed in Madison County Circuit Court during the week of April 13 through April 17.

The following claims were filed:

--Imogene Baldwin of Alabama claims lung cancer on behalf of her recently deceased husband, Earl Baldwin Jr., who worked from 1952 until 1980 as a welder at various locations. Imogene Baldwin is represented by Randy L. Gori and Barry Julian of Gori, Julian and Associates in Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-391.

--Mary Boston of Illinois claims lung cancer on behalf of her recently deceased husband, Gerald Boston, who worked from 1948 until 1985 as a boiler installer, lab technician, insurance agent and police officer at various locations. Mary Boston is represented by Robert Phillips and Perry J. Browder of SimmonsCooper in East Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-389.

--Kathleen Crank of Ohio, a hair dresser and laborer from 1960 until 1974, claims mesothelioma. She says she was also exposed to asbestos fibers through her father who worked as an assembly line worker and as a pipe fitter from 1950 until 1980. Crank's older sister, who worked from 1965 until 1968 as an assembly line worker, and her other sister, who worked from 1967 until 1970 as an assembly line worker, also brought asbestos home on their clothing, the suit states. Crank was also exposed to asbestos fibers through her first husband, who worked as a laborer from 1970 until 1974, through her second husband, who worked at Valley Systems, and through her son, who worked as a laborer, according to the complaint. --Rita Foley of Missouri claims mesothelioma on behalf of her recently deceased husband, Michael Foley, who worked from 1976 until the 1990s as a drywall installer and laborer. --William Frederick of Colorado claims mesothelioma on behalf of his recently deceased wife, Deborah L. Frederick. She was secondarily exposed to asbestos through William Frederick, who worked as a laborer from 1960 until 1980, according to the complaint. William Frederick is represented by Randy L. --Troy E. Hefner of Illinois, a mechanic and forklift mechanic from 1987 until 2003, claims lung cancer. Hefner is represented by Elizabeth V. Heller and Robert Rowland of Goldenberg, Heller, Antognoli and Rowland in Edwardsville. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-373.

--Dan Lee Ingham of Texas, a laborer and member of the Ironworker's Local 433 from 1947 until the 1970s, claims mesothelioma. Ingham is represented by Randy L. Gori and Barry Julian of Gori, Julian and Associates in Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-385.

--Karen Jacobs of Texas claims mesothelioma on behalf of her recently deceased father, John Laufhutte, who worked from 1960 until 2005 as a mechanic, auditor, computer signer and general manager at various locations throughout Illinois and Ohio. --Helen and Gary Lucas of Florida claim Helen Lucas developed mesothelioma after her work from 1952 until the early 1980s as a nurse in training, waitress and laborer at various locations throughout Illinois, Michigan and Alabama. They are represented by Christopher R. Guinn, Christopher J. Levy, Perry J. Browder and John A. Barnerd of SimmonsCooper in East Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-386.

--Delores and Donald McMullen of Michigan claim Delores McMullen developed mesothelioma after her work as an office worker, data processor, secretary, finance department laborer and financial officer from 1960 until 2007. She was also exposed to asbestos fibers through her husband, who worked as a die caster, driver, supervisor and maintenance worker from 1960 until 1999, according to the complaint. --Shirley Rice of Michigan, a secretary and business owner at various locations throughout Illinois and Michigan from 1948 until 1998, claims mesothelioma. Rice says she was also exposed to asbestos fibers through her father, who worked as a laborer at Ford Motor Company from 1929 until 1959. Rice is represented by Myles L. --Roosevelt and Opal Samuel of Texas claim Roosevelt Samuel developed mesothelioma after his work as a laborer in the U.S. Army and as a laborer at B&B Insulation, Tubes Corp., Insulation Sales and Services and Econotherm from 1953 until 2007. The Samuels are represented by Randy L. Gori and Barry Julian of Gori, Julian and Associates in Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-381.

--John Chandler Smith of Utah, a mechanic and truck driver at various locations throughout Illinois, California, Nevada and Utah from 1952 until 2002, claims mesothelioma. Smith is represented by G. --Craig Wisnan claims mesothelioma on behalf of his deceased client, Elisa Fuentes, who worked from 1945 until 1987 as a retail clerk at various locations. She was also exposed to asbestos fibers through her family member, Gilbert Fuentes, who worked from 1942 until the 1980s as a pipe fitter and truck driver at various locations, Elisa Fuentes's attorney, Wisnan, claims. --Merton Yeomans of Illinois, a radar operator, loader and electrical inspector at various locations through Illinois, Indiana and South Carolina from 1943 until 1986, claims mesothelioma.
